Wynncraft
Reincarnation and Corruption
Location: Gelibord Outskirts
Part 1
Location: Bob's Arena
Bob
The Hero of Wynn
They called me Bob, master of the arts of Wynn.
Bob
The Hero of Wynn
A hero to the people and a force of good.
Bob
The Hero of Wynn
Will you face me once more, and pass this test?
Bob
The Hero of Wynn
Or will you continue to fall like the rest of your friends?
Kiya
Soldier
Huff...Huff...
Kiya
Soldier
...I'll keep trying.
Just how did this happen?
The blood of his friends were on his hands, their bodies mangled beyond repair. Over, and over.
Was any of this worth the pain?
.....
Location: Maro Peaks
It started because a man named Batelu wanted to investigate the truth of Bob's end.
The three of them, knowing the tale of the hero, decided to help him for whatever reason.
This began with finding the pieces of three animals. One of them happened to be in Maro Peaks, where a climbing helmet was needed, and they were handicapped significantly.
Heathcliff
Soldier
Whoa, whoa, whoa!
Ishmael
Soldier
Ugh, I told you you'd fall over without it.
Heathcliff
Soldier
I didn't think that guy was serious when he said we needed 'em!
Kiya
Soldier
To be fair, most of the people in Selchar are jokesters.
Kiya had been seeking answers. The origin of corruption was still unknown to the average denizen, and he swears each day he's getting closer to finding the truth.
By now, they managed to grab ahold of Cluckles, and somehow managed to wrangle Mooington at Skien's island.
They just needed to find a way through these mountains, and that was it.
Kiya
Soldier
By the way, when we open up that tomb, we should go to his body and say that he sucks at naming animals.
Kiya
Soldier
'Baab'? 'Mooington'? At least Cluckles was kind of normal.
Heathcliff
Soldier
I dunno, 'Baab' is really silly for a name.
Ishmael
Soldier
...It's a terrible pun and you know it.
Heathcliff
Soldier
That's what makes it so funny, innit?
Ishmael
Soldier
Whatever you say.
Ishmael
Soldier
Ack-! These rams are going to leave bruises at this rate...
Kiya
Soldier
They're trying to tell us something.
Kiya
Soldier
To turn around and get the fuck out of here, but obviously we're not doing that.
Kiya
Soldier
Heathcliff, keep your helmet on.
Heathcliff
Soldier
Mate, it's itching!
Kiya
Soldier
You wanna end up back at Ragni?
Heathcliff grumbles. He didn't want to end up getting barred from Maro Peaks again.
Deeper and deeper they climb into the bowels of these mountains, until they reach an underground system.
Followers of Baab, donning sheep masks, praising the sheep as though it were a powerful god.
Heathcliff
Soldier
...And I thought the Bovemists were eating shit.
Kiya
Soldier
I guess, but the Bovemists actually had reasons. This is just...a normal sheep, I think.
Kiya
Soldier
Let's just kill them and steal the masks.
Ishmael
Soldier
...Why do you want to steal the masks?
Kiya
Soldier
So we can sell them to the mask merchant. Duh.
Ishmael
Soldier
Extra income? You're always thinking of the craziest ideas. How much would they be worth anyway?
Heathcliff
Soldier
Uh, lads?
Kiya
Soldier
Probably at least twelve emeralds.
Ishmael
Soldier
At least twelve isn't nearly enough for us to buy potions.
Ishmael
Soldier
We're selling them in bulk, so it's probably...How many are there?
Heathcliff
Soldier
Guys.
Kiya
Soldier
More than twenty. These are probably magicians of sorts so there's probably more.
Heathcliff
Soldier
Oi! They're looking right at us!
Sure enough, the followers of Baab were looking right at them, in awe and in anger that they were intruding.
Heathcliff
Soldier
...Start runnin!
Kiya
Soldier
Hold them off while I run towards the idol.
Kiya
Soldier
Good luck, you two!
Ishmael
Soldier
WHAT?!
Ishmael
Soldier
Argh...Heathcliff, watch out!
Kiya charges, sniping the sheep as crowds of followers try and pull the other two down.
Reckless as it may be, the effectiveness of the situation was unmatched.
They managed to take what they needed almost completely unscatched.
Part 2
Location: Bob's Tomb
Kiya
Soldier
We killed all three animals.
Batelu
Investigator
You are ready, it seems. Since you three hold the seals, you must go by yourselves.
Kiya
Soldier
...So, are we ready?
Ishmael
Soldier
Are you?
Heathcliff
Soldier
We're pretty much coming with 'cause you wanted to meet Bob.
Kiya
Soldier
How do you know we'll meet him? For all we know, it could be a dead body and that's it.
Heathcliff
Soldier
And...what will you do if that's what ends up happening?
Heathcliff
Soldier
You're not gonna keep runnin' are you?
Indeed, the reason for Kiya's wish was to seek answers. A wild goose chase from the very beginning.
If the corruption can truly be stopped, then he'll do whatever it takes to make sure darkness does not consume him completely.
The three of them enter the tomb, making their way towards the top. The voice of the Hero of Wynn tells his tale, but it only shocks the two behind the assassin.
Time can only heal so much.
Bob
The Hero of Wynn
You must face a test. The ultimate test that will hone your skills.
Bob
The Hero of Wynn
Having heard my story, do you have what it takes to face me?
Kiya
Soldier
We'll figure it out from here.
Kiya
Soldier
Just as we always have. Right?
For Heathcliff, he still had wounds to reopen and heal from. For Ishmael, she needed to find a purpose beyond the past.
To each other, this was another form of revenge, one way or another.
But as they reach the end of the tunnel, what greets them is nothing like they've ever faced.
Part 3
Location: Bob's Arena
No matter how strong friendship may be, it cannot overpower forces alone.
The Hero of Wynn mastered four arts, and his opponents only three.
Still, they died. Again and again, they died. Came back, only to fall once more.
Bob
The Hero of Wynn
Had enough yet?
Kiya
Soldier
Nn...No...
Before him, Ishmael's bow rested by his bloody feet.
Kiya feebly picks it up, and shoots a magic arrow, only for it to deflect like it was nothing.
His hands and body were shaking. How many times has he dealt with death now?
How many more times will he bargain for answers?
Kiya
Soldier
I refuse...
Kiya
Soldier
I don't...want...to die...
Kiya
Soldier
Not...again.
Bob
The Hero of Wynn
Why do you do this?
He looks up, and Bob is kneeling to his level. Pathetically, Kiya tries to throw a punch.
His hood had been torn a while ago, yet he tries to cover his face, almost in shame.
Bob
The Hero of Wynn
I know very well you did not come for glory.
Bob
The Hero of Wynn
Not for fame. Not for power. Something else.
Bob
The Hero of Wynn
Look at me.
Kiya
Soldier
Ghh...
Bob
The Hero of Wynn
Oh.
Bob
The Hero of Wynn
...No, I see now. Yes.
Bob
The Hero of Wynn
You and I are the same.
Kiya
Soldier
What...?
Kiya
Soldier
What are you even...
Bob
The Hero of Wynn
You have lost something...someone...close to you, to the darkness.
Bob
The Hero of Wynn
And now...you want to fight against everything corrupted. But you already know that.
Kiya
Soldier
.....
Bob
The Hero of Wynn
...It's eating you. Isn't it?
Bob
The Hero of Wynn
But you have to control yourself. Stand up, and try again.
Before Kiya can fall back, before he can even respond...
Something slides towards his direction.
A potion.
Heathcliff
Soldier
O-Oi...Kiya...
Heathcliff
Soldier
Whatever you're thinkin'...make sure it ain't vengeance...
Heathcliff
Soldier
We'll be fine. Just do your best.
Heathcliff
Soldier
You ain't ever...gonna find a chance like this again...you hear?
Downing the potion in one go, something in Kiya's chest burns.
A terrible feeling that leaves him stronger...and far, far angrier.
Kiya
Soldier
They took my family away from me.
Kiya
Soldier
And you think...
Kiya
Soldier
You can torment whatever I have left?!
Kiya
Soldier
I'll kill you...and I'll kill every tinge of darkness, even the one in me.
Kiya
Soldier
Don't hold back.
Bob
The Hero of Wynn
I won't.
Kiya
Soldier
Damn it all.
Kiya
Soldier
AND DAMN YOU, ESPECIALLY!
Whatever was in it gave him the means to keep going. With a wide, eerie grin, Kiya positions himself.
And the Hero of Wynn smiles as the assassin soars into the air.
Part 4
Location: Detlas
A bright and colorful day in the center of Wynn, and Heathcliff is once again doing the bargaining.
Heathcliff
Soldier
Listen, mate. These aren't just any masks...they're cultist masks.
Heathcliff
Soldier
And they're still fresh and warm! Perfect to sell!
Ishmael
Soldier
Fresh and warm probably isn't the right word to use for masks.
Heathcliff
Soldier
Do you want the money or not?!
The mask merchant shakes his head, watching the banter go down once more. They've been here for more than twenty minutes now. Lucky for them, not many other people want to sell or buy masks.
As Heathcliff and Ishmael bicker over the value of over a dozen sheep-faced masks, a lone figure steps forward.
With newly healed wounds and a nicer cloak, he places several more masks on the table and sighs.
Mask Merchant
Merchant
Oh, Kiya! You're here!
Kiya
Soldier
What do you mean. I've always been here.
Mask Merchant
Merchant
Naw, I thought you died after the whole fiasco with the pigmen.
Mask Merchant
Merchant
But boy, oh boy! I heard the rumors. Wanna tell me about that new dagger of yours?
After everything that went down, Kiya had to stay in Ragni's intensive care for days.
There were reports that he had fallen into corruption as many soldiers did, but it didn't seem to be the case after a while.
And still, he sprung back into work like nothing happened.
Even as his two friends were stuck in the clinic for far longer.
Kiya
Soldier
...Maybe another time.
Kiya
Soldier
I'm here to sell these masks.
When confronted about what had occured in the tomb, Ishmael could only say it was a painful blur. Heathcliff said the same thing.
Since amnesia was far too common, the curious journalists eventually became bored of hearing the same answers.
As for Kiya...
Kiya
Soldier
...Hey, you two! Quit it already.
Kiya
Soldier
Or I'll leave you both for the Black Road.
...He'd rather keep the bragging rights to himself at the moment.
